Today, we went on an expedition to Nakarma in Tonaki—a dive site open only on Sundays!

Air temperature: 32°C, Water temperature: 28°C, Visibility: 25–30 m

Since conditions were poor at other dive sites, we steeled ourselves and decided to do three dives at Nakarma.

We spotted tiger sharks and gray reef sharks.

Plus, crowned angelfish and giant trevally.

The only ones we could get close to were the giant trevally and a sea turtle… I could see everything, but it was all so far away…

There was also a massive stingray we couldn’t get near at all…

On the way, we encountered a pod of long-finned pilot whales—the journey and the dive were both magical.

It was an experience unique to expedition diving—a bit different from our usual Kerama Islands dives!

That said, Typhoon No. 18—the second typhoon this August forecast to make a direct hit on Okinawa Main Island—is approaching.

Typhoon No. 20 has also formed nearby, and while the typhoon’s forecast circle is still quite large…

Conditions are expected to become rough starting around midday on the 25th, so please be careful if you have a flight booked around that time.
