Here in Okinawa, we’ve been enjoying picture-perfect summer weather day after day.
The temperatures aren’t unbearably hot—nothing over 40°C—but just right for a refreshing dip in the ocean.
Today, we headed to the Chibishi Islands with a family who were DiscoverScuba diving for the first time together.
Since they’ve made the trip all the way to Okinawa as a family, I really want them to make great memories!
First, let’s get used to breathing underwater in the shallows.
Air temperature: 32°C, Water temperature: 28–29°C, Visibility: 30 m

As soon as they put their faces in the water, tropical fish were already there to greet them.
And that crystal-clear visibility—so quintessentially Okinawan—is already showcasing the magic of the underwater world!
Since both kids were experienced swimmers, they slipped right into the underwater world!
Actually, adults who overthink things like this might take a little longer to adjust.
The key is to simply accept the fact that you can breathe underwater…
We even saw a turtle, and by the second dive, they were swimming around freely!!
I think this experience served as a great introduction to the underwater world, so we’re definitely looking forward to seeing you at a certification course next time!
Tomorrow, we’re splitting up—some of us are heading out for a drift dive in Kerama, and others are heading to the Chibishi Islands!
