The rainy season is over, and summer has arrived! Chibishi Islands

In the Okinawa region, there is a long-standing tradition: a legend says that when the bell rings at the Hari festival—held to pray for a bountiful catch and safe voyages—the rainy season comes to an end.

Just yesterday, on June 18, the Hari festival took place in Itoman, and sure enough, the rainy season ended just as the bell rang.

The people who came up with the lunar calendar were truly amazing...

With this, the summer solstice south wind (Kachibai)—the seasonal wind from the south—will finally start blowing in, signaling the arrival of full-fledged summer once again this year!

So today, we’re heading out for a fun dive at the Chibishi Islands!

Air Temperature: 31°C, Water Temperature: 24–25°C, Visibility: 15m+

With the air temperature now exceeding 30°C, just seeing the blue sky instead of that dreary rain really lifts your spirits, doesn’t it!

With that in mind, I feel like the Chibishi Islands are just the right place to warm up for the dives starting tomorrow.

We’ll take it easy, watching turtles and enjoying the underwater terrain.

Tomorrow, we’re heading to the USS Emmons, Okinawa’s pride and joy among shipwreck sites!

And then we’re off to Manza.
