I usually wake up on my own when it’s time to watch the World Cup, so why does getting up early for the Aguni expedition feel so different?
Despite the southwesterly winds, we set out for the Aguni expedition today as well.
①–③: Fuden-zaki
Air Temp: 26°C / Water Temp: 23–25°C / Visibility: 25m
We heard that giant trevally have been relatively easy to spot this year, so we started with our first dive.
We checked all five reefs—No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4—but none of the teams saw any.
...Well, that means they must be either north or south.
It’s too early in the season for the south... so let’s cover the north.
So we launched a blanket search... but wait, they’re not here?
Far from being a reliable sighting, isn’t this difficulty level way too high?
Is it just me?
However, we luckily ran into a team that had spotted them and got the scoop!
Our third dive, with our backs against the wall!!
Wow... why are they here of all places...?
Well, I’m just glad we managed to see them.
We also saw a giant Napoleon wrasse, a crowned angelfish, a yellowfin tuna, and some barracuda.
Still, if you don’t see the giant trevally tornado, it feels like going to Disneyland without Mickey… or maybe even worse.
Tomorrow’s supposed to be a bit easier, so we’re definitely heading out on an expedition to Aguni!
